Dorm Haul: Part 1

It's almost that time of year again! Back to school! I know what you're thinking, it's only July, though. Well, after 12 years of schooling, I am finally embarking on the next step of back to school shopping: dorm room purchases.

When I opened up my school email (yes! I have a school email now!) a month ago, there laid my room assignment. I was instantly stunned with so much excitement.

1. I was placed in my first choice dorm - which is a suite (that means no community baths for me, whoo!)
2. I was placed with the roommate of my choice! (This news I was so much more excited for since this girl and I were talking for MONTHS and got really close; plus, our school had been messing up a lot of people's room requests)

I then realized that everything was happening so fast, I could finally start dorm shopping -- which I've been literally waiting my whole life for.

My excitement was, and stil is, limitless; however, the depths of my wallet aren't. I've been working pretty much all summer to make as much money as I can so I am able to buy all of the things I want and need for my dorm. In this first series, I am going to show you guys all of my purchases and explanations why I bought that specific item as well as where I bought it, the price, and what I think of it.

**Note: I am not posting my hauls as a way to "show off" or because a company is paying me to, this is solely for the readers of my blog and their enjoyment as well as any tips they pick up from these posts**

Purchase #1:
Vera Bradley Lap Desk
Cost: $28
Pattern (in picture): Midnight Blue
Pros: Just the right amount of "desk" space to hold up to a 17" laptop; the pillow on the bottom is so soft, but firm enough to keep the desk steady; if you don't want the pillow part, you can take it off since it's attached to the board by velcro; very light, easy to carry around
Cons: There are only 5 patterns to choose from

Purchase #2: 13" MacBook Pro with Retina
Price: $1399 + some (it was a grad gift)
Pros: I absolutely love it. It's so thin, everything is crystal clear, it's so fast. This, I think, is the perfect laptop for me. This is my first Apple laptop so I might be too excited, but I know this will be amazing for my college career.
What I love most about it is that it's A LOT thinner and more than a pound lighter than the last version of the MacBook Pro (without Retina). I will definitely be able to bring this around in my backpack without feeling like a pack mule.
PLUS, if you bring your student ID and driver's license when you purchase it, you get up to a $200 discount AND a $100 iTunes gift card.
Cons: A little confusing if it's your first Apple product. Other than that, nothing.

***
These are not the only things I got for college! I just decided to put up things computer-related for the first post. Plus, I don't have any pictures of my other haul items. Don't worry though! I will be posting my haul little-by-little or by category over the next couple of weeks. For now, have a beautiful evening/morning/afternoon.
